Barbara Jo brings her music therapy to elders, even during Boulder County’s stay-at-home order. She sings outside to residents of Balfour Cherrywood Village.
Stay tuned for my CD release party in May, and the official album release on June 1, 2020.
Here are some photos from recording for my second album, Big Blue Sky in the Morning, at Swingfingers Studios.

Kent & I had second row seats to see my Song School Master Class teacher DARRELL SCOTT and his BLUEGRASS Band last night at Boulder’s incredible venue eTown. It was really hard for me to stay in my seat during the finale (everyone on stage) for Marching To Freedom. eTown is a precious treasure for our community and the world- thank you over and over-

CD Release Update: Big Blue Sky in the Morning is scheduled to be released in 2020 (rather than 2019). The CD Release Party at eTown Hall (originally Oct. 18, 2019) will rescheduled to a new date in 2020.
We will use the rest of this year to focus on an album that will have more songs than the first album, featuring more Colorado players and singers and a wider variety of musical style (including yodeling!) 😊

Another amazing week at Swingfingers Recording Studio. I can’t say enough good things about my experience this second time around. All songs are recorded and I am extremely happy with the result of every single one. Still much work to do like always - getting each song just right as well as adding vocal harmonies. Biggest thanks goes to KC Groves, producer extraordinaire. I’m grateful to all players, singers, engineer, and Calliope the kitty, for joining with me to make a quality album again. Truly blessed to have this opportunity.🤠❤️🎶
These last photos are from my stay at the Marriott Residence Inn (my new home away from home in FOCO) where I sang some tunes to the amazing and wonderful folks who took care of me this week! I continue to be one very grateful SINGIN’ GAL! :-)
Big Blue sky in the Morning - SWINGFINGERS Recording Studio!!
Thank you Sally VanMeter, Courtney Hartman, Jordan Ramsey, Charlie, Erin, Bonnie & Taylor Simms (wonderful friends, even more wonderful musicians), and PERFECT PRODUCER - KC GROVES.... not to mention SWINGFINGERS STUDIO/ Double AA!
I am also grateful to have my dear friend, wonderful musician, KGNU bluegrass star contributor/ supporter (for a lotta years) Fergus Stone, playing on album number two🤠❤️🎶
Per Darrell Scott's recommendation (my master class teacher at Rocky Mountain Song School this past summer), I decided to sing my original song, "The Winning Side," when I performed a set of my music at Still Cellars on Wednesday, October 10th. I had a wonderful time with four other amazing women musicians: Jesse Maclaine, Maya Bennett, Molly Kollier, and Emily Yates.

I'm happy to share that my first original song, "The Winning Side," is being promoted through ReverbNation here!
I am so happy to share with everyone that "In a Cabin on the Mountain by the Pine" by Bob Backlund, the fifth track on my debut solo album One Song at a Time received a ReverbNation rating of 7.7 to earn a featured spot on the ReverbNation homepage in October.
ReverbNation Crowd Reviews (Mar 2018):
"Great Bluegrass sound. Excellent musicians. The voices that are singing are perfect for the genre too. The harmonies sound great. Excellent job. This is professional quality as it is. It could be on the radio, TV, in movies [...] with no reworking necessary."
"This song has a nice blend of music. I love how the guitar blends well [....] One of those I do believe I will hear on the radio one day."
"This is a classic bluegrass tune, the lyrics tell a sweet story. I love the vocal harmonies, and the catchy hook."
I'm very excited to be performing three solo shows and joining my dear friends and amazing musical colleagues, Annie Savage and Mara Levine.
The conference will be Feb. 14th through the 18th at the Westin Crown Center Hotel in Kansas City.

I certainly was on the winning side last night at Oskar Blues in Lyons with the opportunity to sing the song I wrote about my journey in recovery. Huge heartfelt gratitude to my mentor, friend, producer of my album-KC Groves along with the amazingly talented souls who supported me on stage last night at my CD release party: Greg Blake, Damon Smith, Erin Youngberg, Dusty Rider, Greg Schochet, Justin Hoffenberg, and KC singing backup made for an unforgettable evening. With KC and all the top-rate players opening the show - along with special guests Bonnie and Taylor Simms- and ABE handling sound for 8 people on stage, it was a win win in every single way. Jim Mimna had five cameras going so I know we are sure to have a great video for my Mom, Lois Kammer- who really wished she could be there. Thank you so much to my Lafayette family and my Hippie Buckaroos who came to share this most special evening with me. 💗

“KC Groves encouraged me to write a song about my recovery early this year,” said Kammer. “This is one of the first songs I’ve written and the first to be recorded. I’m passionate about my recovery and while my journey to recovery took over 40 years, I wrote this song two weeks before going into the recording studio. I celebrated my 10 year anniversary in sobriety this past July 1, 2017. My inspiration for writing this song came through loud and clear as I walked my dogs around Waneka Lake near my home in Lafayette, CO.”
Traditional favorites and popular classics show Kammer’s versatility with a powerful voice reminiscent of greats like Linda Ronstadt, Joan Baez, or Mary Chapin Carpenter. The album as a whole is a true American Roots delicacy that reminds me of a beautiful Fall day in the country with sweet melodies and heart-wrenching melodies. Barbara is the perfect poster child for the mantra, “it’s never too late.” She took on adversity and met it with strength and empowerment. The journey only gets better from here and she is a force to reckoned with because she will melt your heart and lift you up with her smile, style, and sound.
